Facilities & Recreation
Silver Lake Provincial Park is a welcoming and family-friendly provincial park located in eastern Ontario’s Lanark Highlands, known for its clear waters, sandy beaches, and relaxed camping atmosphere. Centered around the long, narrow waters of Silver Lake, the park is a popular destination for swimming, paddling, fishing, and easygoing outdoor recreation.
Silver Lake Provincial Park is an operating park with controlled access, and visitors require a daily vehicle permit, which can be reserved in advance. The park offers a well-developed day-use area on a small peninsula, featuring a wide crescent-shaped sandy beach, picnic tables, washrooms, change rooms, and a playground. A second, smaller sandy beach near the picnic shelter provides another great spot for swimming and relaxing by the water, making the park especially appealing to families.
Boating is a major draw at Silver Lake. The 9-kilometre-long lake supports a variety of watercraft, including motorboats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats. A single boat launch at the end of the main park road provides convenient access to the lake, while canoe rentals and loaner PFDs make it easy for visitors to get out on the water. Anglers can enjoy fishing for northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake trout, yellow perch, sunfish, and more.
Camping is spread across three campgrounds—Wesley, Dawson, and Algonquin—offering a total of 146 campsites suitable for both tents and RVs. The park includes accessible facilities, such as a barrier-free campsite in Dawson Campground and a centrally located comfort station with flush toilets, showers, sinks, and laundry facilities. For light hiking, the short Marsh Trail features an easy boardwalk through wetland habitat at the eastern end of the lake, providing a quiet opportunity to observe wildlife and enjoy the natural setting.
