Facilities & Recreation

Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park is an operating park that offers a wide range of recreational opportunities supported by modern amenities. The park has a staffed entrance and designated check-in procedures for both campers and day-use visitors. Barrier-free campsites and accessible comfort stations are available, helping ensure that visitors with mobility challenges can enjoy the park comfortably.

Water-based recreation is a major highlight, with a boat launch providing easy access to Ivanhoe Lake for motorboats and larger watercraft. Boating is popular on the lake, offering plenty of space for fishing, cruising, and shoreline exploration. The generally calm conditions also make the lake well suited to canoeing and kayaking, with nearby channels providing additional paddling routes.

Day-use visitors can take advantage of a dedicated area that includes parking, picnic tables, and direct access to the sandy beach. The beach features shallow, clear water that is ideal for swimming during warmer months, although there are no lifeguards on duty. Shaded picnic areas near the shoreline provide comfortable spots for meals, and a playground close to the beach adds to the park’s family-friendly atmosphere.

Fishing is a common activity on Ivanhoe Lake, where anglers often target species such as walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, and whitefish. All fishing activity requires a valid Ontario fishing licence and must follow provincial regulations. Regulated hunting is permitted in designated areas during open seasons, and participants must comply with all provincial guidelines and licensing requirements.

Hiking opportunities are available along the Saw Lake Trail, a two-kilometre loop that travels through mixed forest and offers scenic views of the lake and surrounding landscape. Pets are welcome throughout the park and must be kept on a leash, with a designated pet-friendly beach area available where dogs can swim off-leash under supervision.

Camping facilities accommodate both tent campers and RVs, with many sites offering a balance of privacy and shade. Group camping areas are available for clubs, scouts, and larger gatherings. Comfort stations throughout the campground include flush toilets, sinks, and hot showers, with additional vault-style pit toilets located in more remote sections. Potable drinking water is available at multiple locations, and an RV dumping station is provided on site.

A park store offers added convenience by carrying basic groceries, camping supplies, souvenirs, ice cream, ice, and firewood. Although the park is not fully operational in winter, it remains accessible for informal cross-country skiing and snowshoeing by experienced visitors who are prepared for limited services and self-guided travel.
