Campers planning a spring visit to Pancake Bay Provincial Park will need to adjust their plans. The park’s official opening, originally scheduled for May 2, 2025, has been delayed by two weeks due to ongoing flooding and lingering snow and ice.

In an update on SooToday, Ontario Parks announced that Pancake Bay will now open on May 16, 2025. The delay is due to heavy spring rains, localized flooding, and sections of the park still covered in snow and ice.

Park staff are actively monitoring conditions and emphasized that safety is the top priority. In their official statement, Pancake Bay Provincial Park stated:

“Due to heavy spring rain, localized flooding and continued snow and ice coverage, Pancake Bay Provincial Park has delayed the park opening date to May 16, 2025.”

“All affected campsite reservation holders have been contacted and offered a full refund or the opportunity to change their reservation without any penalty.”

“We are monitoring conditions daily and will reopen Pancake Bay Provincial Park as soon as it is safe to do so.”

This isn’t the first time Ontario parks have faced delays due to weather, but it’s an important reminder for campers to check for updates before heading out.
